time for a new water heater?
Tankless water heaters are space-savers, taking up significantly less room than traditional models. They can be conveniently installed in various locations like attics, on exterior walls, or even inside closets.
Tankless water heaters offer long-term energy savings—and best of all, you’ll never run out of hot water. If you’ve ever shouted, “Who used all the hot water?” mid-shampoo, you’ve experienced the limits of a traditional tank-style unit.
Unlike those systems, tankless heaters warm water on demand, providing a constant supply for your household. Installation typically requires a dedicated gas line and a GFI outlet near the unit to power it.
If you suspect a hidden plumbing issue before or after installation, we also offer professional Modesto leak detection.

Traditional water heaters have their benefits. Namely, the water heater itself is less expensive.
A traditional storage tank water heater keeps a full tank of hot water ready at all times. When swapping out an old storage tank water heater for a similar new model, the process typically requires fewer adjustments and code modifications, making the installation costs more affordable.

To promote energy savings, SMUD is providing rebates of up to $3,000 for installing an energy-efficient heat pump for heating and cooling. You can learn more about these rebates on Smud’s website.
One important factor to consider with a heat pump is its placement. Since this technology extracts heat from the surrounding air, it must be installed in an area with adequate airflow. This means it needs at least 1,000 cubic feet of air space, which is roughly 12’x12’x7’. While a garage is a suitable location, a utility closet would not provide sufficient space. Additionally, if you currently have an electric water heater, you likely already have a dedicated 220-volt/40-amp circuit. If not, installing one would be necessary, and the associated wiring costs could make the project more expensive.
